Alex Lee was an outstanding schoolboy rower and cricketer at Wesley College, his rowing prowess being such that he later represented Victoria in the King’s Cup. He then studied agricultural science at Melbourne University, and it was there that he also began starring at football.

Win the Week is an Australian television comedy quiz show, which premiered on the ABC on 23 June 2021. The series is presented by Alex Lee, who quizzes three teams of paired celebrities and everyday Australian captains on the week's top news stories. At the end of each round, the losing team captain has the opportunity to "Stay" with their celebrity teammate or "Betray" them by swapping them with a celebrity from another team. The winner of each show wins a framed themed calendar with the week they had won coloured in gold.

The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an international living history group with the aim of studying and recreating mainly Medieval European cultures and their histories before the 17th century. A quip often used within the SCA describes it as a group devoted to the Middle Ages "as they ought to have been", choosing to "selectively recreate the culture, choosing elements of the culture that interest and attract us". Founded in 1966, the non-profit educational corporation has over 30,000 paid members as of 2017 with about 60,000 total participants in the society (including members and non-member participants).
